As if news of the bailout failing is not dismal enough, I have come to find out that the bailout's proposed by out figure of $700 billion dollars was not based on any specific data point. In fact a treasury spokesman said: "It's not based on any particular data point," a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. "We just wanted to choose a really large number."
