The Forums seem a bit dead as of late, so i thought i'd start up a topic.
Mass Effect...everyone's heard of it...how many are looking forward to it?
I mayself eagerly await the release of this game, i've been following it since it was first mentioned. I've watched and read numerous tidbits of information, and from what i've seen. What i can say this game has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever made...Bioware is already planning on at least having a trilogy out of this entire series, and with their history on Kotor and Jade Empire I have to say, I never really doubted them.
Although there are obvious simularities between Mass Effect and Kotor especially the whole mass effect powers vs. the force very similar with a different visual applied...but either way, its not like Star Wars is the only universe where an element such as that can exist is there?
From what i've heard and seen the story sounds rather epic, and rightly deserving of 3 titles. the thing i am most excited about though, story wise, is not only do you have an influence on the story now, and your actions will effect the outcome even more, there's no certain point in the game where you have to choose either good or bad, it will all pan out the way you decide to play. Which is great for the realism aspect, but EVEN better than that, is the fact that, after you beat this game, and Mass Effect 2 is released, you can use your former character in Mass Effect 2 if you so choose to, with all of his gear, everything that you ended with in the previous game...Now i don't know about any of you but thats what i was hoping for back when I first beat Kotor and started hearing rumors of Kotor 2...
With that being said, the combat and controls seem wonderful...the normal running around, talking to people, RPG aspect is there very similar to Kotor and Jade Empire, with the more refined dialog system, and better facial deformation, etc...the combat itself is changing depending on how you choose to play your character, the main demonstration i've seen so far is being a merc, or a type of gun weilding badass...which puts the game in a 3rd person over the shoulder type view, very similar to Gears of War, or Ghost Reacon. The visuals at this point look great, and the fighting looks even better...the AI, from what little i was able to see seems relatively smart....they know to take cover, etc...I'm anxious to see more of the combat system and enemy AI though before i really decide.
Thats really all i can think of right now...what are everyone elses thoughts? do you agree with me? are there other areas your looking forward to that i failed to mention?
