$700 Billion Figure for Failure Was Guestimated.
Posted On 09/29/2008 16:44:17

As if news of the bailout failing is not dismal enough, I have come to find out that the bailout's proposed by out figure of $700 billion dollars was not based on any specific data point. In fact a treasury spokesman said:

"It's not based on any particular data point," a Treasury spokeswoman told Forbes.com Tuesday. "We just wanted to choose a really large number."

Isnt that reassuring? If they are going to pass a serious bill, they better come up with a serious answer.

New Nintendo DS Announced
Posted On 09/29/2008 13:45:52

The highly anticipated new Nintendo DS has finally been announced. There has been a lot of buzz about this lately. Aside from some new colors, it also packs a wealth of new features.

"Nintendo has announced that it will release an upgraded model of its popular handheld, the Nintendo DS. Featuring a camera, music playback and more modernized features, it will come to market in Japan this year at a price not far above the current mode."

This is a step by Nintendo to move forward in the handheld industry market. With the IPHONE making it's way into the pockets of many consumers, handheld companies are beggining to do more to complete with these types of gians. Nokia also announced the launch of their new handheld. Details on that will be coming this week.

"The upgraded DS will be released in Japan this year at a price of “under 20,000 yen” ($189). For reference, the current DS sells in Japan for 16,800 yen ($159)."

300 Director Snyder to Produce Video Games
Posted On 09/29/2008 12:49:40

Zack Snyder - director of 300 and the forthcoming Watchmen - has signed a deal to develop three original games for Electronic Arts, according to Variety.

Although the types of games he will be developing have not been exposed yet, the deal states that the games may be converted into films by Snyder's Cruel and Unusual Films Production Company.

An EA Games suit told the trade mag: "Zack Snyder has a fresh and bold creative style that resonates with our core audience."

Snyder is not the first big Hollywood player to dabble in videogames of course, with the likes of Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg – who also has a deal with EA - and John Woo all producing gaming titles in recent years.
